LiveJournal adds Schools Directory feature
Well, it looks like Six Apart is taking some inspiration from the
old dope peddler's playbook: "Get 'em while they're young." LiveJournal's new
Schools Directory feature stands to pull in a lot of
fresh faces by way of connecting up the folks kids tend to spend loads of time with: their classmates. Unlike
Facebook, this
isn't limited to colleges and universities, nor is it limited to a pre-selected list of schools — it's open to
elementary, junior and high schools as well and you can add in your own school if it's not already listed. I'm with
Jordan on
wondering about wizarding schools — but I'm having no luck finding Hogwart's in the listing by geographic region.

iProcrastinate.com
Social networking and college life have been the
topics of numerous posts here on
The Social Software Weblog
over the past year or so.
About a week ago i was going to write up an announcement about a new social networking service created to compete with
thefacebook but, i procrastinated about trying out iProcrastinate.com.
Primarily because i visited the iProcrastinate site and it's weird red blurred circles pulsing in an annoying fashion
along with the primitive placement of conflicting fonts, serifed and sans, that appeared on my screen. There is nothing
particularly inviting about this site. Have any of you tried it?
Inviting me to import my facebook profile with strange red circles flashing in a chaotic frenzy simply didn't invite
me to investigate any further than the first page. And it would appear that the students at Stanford University weren't
very impressed either, according to The Stanford Daily writer
Nila Bala.
