Tribe.net gets more funding
Much of Tribe's support seems to come from big commercial media, their business model appears to be advertising and probably future provision of approved user information to said big commercial media. Controversy abounds regarding this supposed "alternative" social networking service and it will be interesting to see how more funding and thus more indebtedness to deep pockets plays out with the communities of users. Whatever is a successful service to do?

(Page 1)2. I guess Rafat knows more than company employees as I'm the VP of Advertising at Tribe.net and hadn't heard about this supposed funding... Sounds like just a rumor to me (but an extra $3 million would be great!). I would love to hear who it was who invested to!

3. Darian, thanks a lot for letting us know that! Care to take this opportunity to answer the above question about what more money means to s service built on user generated content?

7. @#5: I don't know what Tribe looked like before, but the current design is what attracted me there. That's just my 2-cents, taste is subjective after all.
If anything were to be changed, I would work on fixing the Amazon Wishlist and the RSS feed modules. Neither one works for me.

1. Would love to know what all the funding is needed for considering there are lots of sites out there running with a dozen or so people and doing just fine. The whole point of social networks is that your CPA is extremely low due to the inherent nature of the network. So you're not raising money for marketing $.
