Collaborative calendaring site Upcoming just added a new Groups
feature — basically an easy way to set up and talk about events by interest group or location. Each group can set up
its own calendar, public or private, with subscriptions available via RSS or iCal. You can add already existing events
to your group with a "Send to Group" function on any event page.
How does everybody organize social events now — do you use Upcoming? Another site? Email? By
owl? Clandestine invites by the light of the full moon?

1. I use AirSet, free at http://www.airset.com. Full disclosure - I work with AirSet.
It's akin to a networked marriage of Yahoo Groups and Outlook. Enables you to manage all your groups from one place. Create lots of discrete groups -- work, home, social groups, etc.. -- then share calendars, contacts, lists, blogs and bookmarks within and between those groups. Syncs to Outlook, Palm. RSS feeds, text messaging alerts and -- as of tomorrow -- iCal subscriptions.
We're also very close to releasing our mobile clients which will enable our users to access, update and sync their networked AirSet data by mobile phone. Hope you'll give it a look.
