So Meetro may not be getting acquired by
Google, but they haven't been slouching around, either. They've got plans to port their location-based IM
application to the Sony Playstation portable and the
Nintendo DS, both handheld gaming consoles with
WiFi support. Seems to me a smart target — primarily a youth market already familiar with casual ad-hoc chat. Trouble
is, neither device has a built-in QWERTY keyboard, so it'll be interesting to see how the Meetro application handles text entry. Then again, the console-specific clients won't be out til next
summer, so perhaps we'll see keyboard attachments for these devices by then.

1. Are we forgetting that the DS has touchscreen and voice input capabilites? Can't say the same for PSP though.. maybe they can communicate by selecting a series of emoticons ?
