This also marks the end of Audioscrobbler as a separate service — it is now merely the engine powering the
Last.fm service. They're going to open up as much of their data as possible via
web services and turn the old Audioscrobbler site into a
developer's playground — look for some interesting new applications to come out of that.
The changes over at Last.fm are looking pretty sweet. Considering I'm a
recalcitrant tagaholic, I'm particularly tickled by the addition of tags, and the tagging interface goes beyond "easy to use" and well into addictive. You can add tags
individually to any individual artist, album or track, but the real fun is in the tag editor:
You can generate a list of all artists, Top 250 artists or your 100 most recent tracks in the left pane (which you can also filter by keyword), and collect artists, tracks and albums into groups on the right simply by clicking on them.
