2. Yahoo should shelve Mingle and any other like social networking "chat room remarketed fluff" and address keyword search. This Mingle release and other recent program announcements from Yahoo seem to indicate that the revenue focused Elders at Yahoo are staking much of their future on the popularity of chat and social networking cultures.

Yahoo instead should improve their keyword search capabilities.

Users are seeking email retreival and keyword search almost hand in hand. Yahoo provides strong email services but is struggling mightily to even tread water in terms of delivering timely, content relevant, keyword search results pages.

The expectations for an improved keyword search marketplace were so high when Yahoo purchased Inktomi more than 20 months ago. Yet positive developments as a result have not occured to date.

Site Match and other Overture based search marketing programs are deceptive to sponsors and irrelevant to keyword searchers.

If Yahoo cannot remedy keyword search quickly the ability to compete for share of audience beyond email retreival in the coming years will be sacrificied.

Yahoo and their shareholders need to address keyword search to better manage their future.
